Very nicely done Eric!.. :) it looks really nice.. If you get a chance you might want to add domain forwarding to the old address so you dont confuse people. :)

Yes, the site looks very good. A few issues solved that I was having with Netscape/Mozilla (yes, I'm one of those independant guys). I'm also glad the Preferred Routes are now up again in the pilot section. I use that page to check clearances (so let's hope it's rather up to date!) because for some reason, the tables in SOP_052 go bonkers on Mozilla/Netscape. They all end up overprinting each other and it turns into a royal mess.
Site looks good, and I'm sure it'll get sleeker as we come up with more ideas and suggestions. Two URL-related questions from me, though: Why couldn't we keep the original .org address and change the IP? Was it a legal/contractual thing with Brinkster (or whoever the old host was)? Second, I can't help but notice everything seems to be in oakartcc/zoa/oakartcc/zoa... any particular reason?
Oh yeah, one last thing... The main titlebar graphic seems a bit... well... busy to me. Not saying we should still use the old one, but it was one image in the whole space, with that nice fade to blue to the right. Am I offering to come up with something better? Not outright, but I'd love to help, if asked. ^_^
Now, time to bite my tongue. I dislike change very much, so I'll give myself a month to get used to the new digs before saying anything else that's not a subjective issue.

Actually this new Web page was designed by Rob Jarrock Artcc Chief
with some help from the old site's resources.
Not bad for a newbie 1st time web page designer wouldn't you say?

Looks very fine! I'd say hat's off and cans up to all concerned on a job nicely done. I'm off for a stroll about the grounds to have a closer look!

Rob - the site looks nice - great job. We all know that it is a lot of work. I had a few people ask me "why do we have a new site?", "What was wrong with the old one?".
The answer is simple - Nothing was wrong with the old site. Yet - as Rob tries to shape ZOA into something different, a rebrand of the website is an excellent idea. I really think that Rob is doing an excellent job putting a new feel into Oakland - and I hope that you all continue to show him support in the future.
Eric - thanks for all of your hard work and dedication during the past 16 months. It was a pleasure working with you on the new site. It turned out exactly the way we had planned it and I learned something about the power of teamwork along the way. It was also a pleasure getting to know you through all of our emails and telephone calls. Your gentle love for the hobby and ZOA in general is sorely missed around here.
I noticed someone already set up a redirection script, I think that we should at least have an announcement for people to update their bookmarks. I'll make the necessary notification to VATUSA to update their site.
I'll be changing the "locks" on the old site (not the small brinkster accounts) but the information on oakartcc.org will remain in place for another 30-60 days in case anyone needs to get some of the content. After that I will be removing it from the web space.
If you want any of the old forum information to come over to the new one - please let me know ASAP as I will be toasting the SQL server on Nov.1
I'd also like to thank Ryan for originally purchasing the oakartcc.org domain name and then eventually transferring it to Jim Bartosh. With the "birth" of oakartcc.net, we can either allow the old domain name to fade into the sunset (not renew it) or if someone is interested in securing it for the future - please let me know.

Where or what happened to the staff forums? Lots of important training and info was on there and is much needed as lot of our crew's training history are there.

Eric: Sorry to hear you're retiring as our web-guru. But I understand how it goes... I'm sure the time will come when I'll have to either retire or take an extended hiatus. Thank you for all the work on the previous website and good luck to you! ^_^
Rob: I hope my previous post didn't sound too complain-y. Trust me, this is definitely more than I could whip up in a short amount of time. The new look'n'feel looks and feels good, but like I said, it'll take me a little while to get used to it. However, since I got my 'big-three' bookmarks transferred over, I have a feeling the rest will be smooth sailing.
Ian: Personally, I'd wish the last month (or two weeks?) of messages could get transferred, just to try to keep up a seamless transition. Besides, I wanted to copy and forward that latest batch of inane ATC radio transcripts to some friends of mine.
Me: I am done.

Eric,
ZOA will not be the same place it was when you flew here on a regular bases. I hope that things go well for you both in your real life and with VATSIM. I hope you will be able to fly in ZOA air space once and a while.

Actually, I do have one question... is there a way to jump back to the main page once we enter the forums? Granted, that might be more of something to do with the forum program, and it might not be possible... but I find once I'm in the forums, I can't easily link back out.
On the old page (with a different forum program, I know) I believe it kept the bar along the left side when you browsed the messages. Granted, if the bar was kept, there might be too little real-estate as it is and the messages might look cramped.
Just a question, with no real answer expected. I can always re-type the URL to go back home. ^_^

James,
are you talking about the forum browsing links??
take a look at the very top. which says Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center Forum Index -> ZOA - General Discussion
you can click on the Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center Forum Index text and you will go back to the main menu.

Dan, those are the links I mean. In all the browsers I usually use (Mozilla at home, but I.E. 6.0 here at work), when I press forums the main forum page loads full-window, taking out the frames (including the ZOA titlebar). Then I have to go back to www.oakartcc.net to get back to the main page. I can't even open it in a new window (or new tab in Moz/Netscape) because the buttons are Flash movies unto themselves, and right-clicking yeilds the Flash player context menu, not the web browser context menu.
Again, a minor inconvenience, but I'm curious now that I find I'm being singled out! ^_^
BTW, I like the new title banner.

I was surprised to find this evening that there are still a few busted links in the Airport Info pages. The ones I tripped over were in the KMRY page, mainly the Facility Diagram and (more importantly) the 10R ILS plate. I have a sneaking suspicion there are more on the KMRY page, but I didn't look too far...
Just a heads up... I was hoping to reference the plate. On the other hand, I was thinking what with my dial-up, maybe I should take a night and just download all the plates and charts to my local drive and call them up from there. ^_^
