So here I am, ready to start controlling for the first time. I see someone's working SFO. I say to my wife, "ok, someone's workin' SFO, should I man San Jose tower, or Reno tower?"

She responds, "put that down, pay attention to your wife, and man her tower!"

I laughed my butt off, started this posting, and fully intend to staff SJC after this. I'll take one for the team :)

You gotta do what you gotta do. :P

But you should be asking the shift supervisor where he wants you, right? (grin)

and if the CIC wants you to plug into her tower, there's something you three need to talk about. ;) ;)

Too funny! Reminds me of a comic I'm sorta passively trying to get a friend of mine to draw (I couldn't draw to save my life).

VATSIM controller at his computer, eyes on the screen. Says, 'AAL1234, confirm squawking 7500?'

Next panel, reply comes back: "Yessir, squawking 7500. My wife is right behind me brandishing a pillow, demanding I land this crate at the nearest airport and come to bed."

Last panel, controller with a giant smile, maybe leaning back in his chair. "Roger sir. Let me know if I can do anything to help..."

I figured real-life controlling put a strain on relationships, but the virtual side? C'mon, man! Priorities! 'As real as it gets' only goes so far! ^_~
