Anyone checked the METAR for KONT lately? Pretty strange weather we're having down here...
(Work is literally across the freeway from the airport...)

No joking, I had nothing to do until a meeting got out, so went up to the fifth floor storage room and set up the _big_ sound system and enjoyed some tunes... but I opened the window when it got too hot and realized it is the _perfect_ view out over the final for KONT. Every aircraft coming in was just a sillouhette, at one point the winds must have shifted and I swear it couldn't have been more than 1/4 mile visibility on the ground. And I even saw one poor pilot do a missed approach... the plane was coming down just like normal, then it started going back up into the 'clouds' with a turn.
But now I am _definitely_ bringing my air radio to work. When I got nothing better to do... fifth floor window and KONT tower on the box. ^_^

You should see the TFRs out for the San Diego area. Real World SOCAL Approach had to evacuate yesterday due to the fires, and LA Center (in Palmdale) had to take over operations while they were out. We're really looking at this on the ZLA Forum, but it's getting pretty serious.. So serious that they had to move the gridiron game tonight to Tempe instead of Qualcomm Stadium. I'm waiting for KSAN to shut down. Hopefully it won't, but I could see it happen.
