Facility Engineer
We are currently accepting applications for the ZOA Facility Engineer position.
This position is open to any S3 and higher candidate, who is currently a full member of ZOA (i.e. not visiting). Certain S1s with programming experience will be allowed. If you feel you're capable, apply.
Expect to spend 10-20 hours per month working on the ZOA data files that are used for controlling on VATSIM, Sweatbox, and, as needed, other technical files for purposes of training or procedural documentation (e.g. published sector maps on the website).
Your responsibilities will be:
* Advisor to the ATM on technical aspects of flight simulation.
* Certify and maintain data files and sector files based on real-world (FAA) and Flight Simulator software product changes.
* Maintain other data files used in simulation, such as the radar positions file & alias file.
* Assess scenery files for use in the ARTCC airspace and their potential impact on operations.
* Member of the Facility Advisory Board, attending staff meetings as required.
* You will be expected to respond to emails, questions, and requests in a timely manner.
Candidates must be familiar working with computers and able examine, prepare, edit, and publish complex data files such as VRC sector files or scenery. Note that you are NOT expected to be an expert on day 1 with VRC sector files or their specifications, but you WILL be expected to RESEARCH and LEARN this material quickly. Should have a good command of the English language. Be able to write, read and speak English fluently. Have access to email, and reliable access to a computer where this type of work can be performed.
