Progression.

The following is the new "step ladder" for progression. Everybody should be able to readily identify where they are on this ladder.


1. Sign up for VATSIM
2. Join VATUSA
3. Take VATUSA Basic Exam
a. Study materials in VATUSA syllabus
4. Select ZOA as ARTCC.
5. Get accepted and added by the membership director.
6. Pass ZOA SOP test.
a. Student can now control at at any Class C/D Towered airport. However, it should be noted to use discretion, as the pilot will not know that the student is a student, and will treat you as a normal controller, expecting high standards.
b. The student should begin reviewing the training videos via his profile panel. These videos should be used to develop training habits. The wiki should also be used.
7. SFO GND
a. Post a training request in the forums, asking for training in regards to clearance and ground at SFO. Post your availability hours. Expect work with a mentor. Continue studying up on the materials.
b. Take DEL/GND test
c. Get SMT
d. Pass PV with Mentor
8. SFO TWR
a. Begin training on SFO TWR.
b. SFO TWR test
c. SMT on SFO TWR
d. Pass TWR PV.
9. APP
a. Pass David's Approach quiz
b. Begin VECTOR training on SMF
c. SMT on SMF -> Move training to RNO.
d. Procedures training at RNO
e. SMT at RNO -> Move training to SJC/MRY
f. S3 exam
g. SMT SJC/MRY -> Move training to NCT Combined
h. SMT on NCT
i. APP test
j. APP PV.
10. CTR
a. Begin training on CTR
b. SMT on CTR
c. C1 exam.
d. PV on CTR.
