A pilot submits a FP to KSEA as SFO8 OAK BTG OLM6. We give our preferred rte and s/he accept. the clrnc should read:

1. With DEP online
ABC1234 u r cleared to KSEA via the SFO8 DP r/v to RBL J1 BTG then a/f

2. With DEP offline
ABC1234 u r cleared to KSEA via the SFO8 DP RBL J1 BTG then a/f

Is that correct or we don't use the words r/v at all anymore? The amended rte has to be incl in the clrnc upto the point we are changing it, so how does RBL fit in?

We don't use radar vectors but instead "the as filed". So with DEP on or off it would be SFO8 dep then as filed or PORTE3 dep CZQ transition, then as filed.

Daniel is right, no more "r/v to xxx"

two options here.

a) if you haven't cleared him yet, just ask him if he can accept a new/altered route and if the pilot can, just give him the clearance as usual.

b) if you need to change something after you gave him a complete clearance use the phraseology in 4-2-5 Route or Altitude Amendments

Here is an excerpt of that section. Look up the complete section for more information and example phraseology.

a. Amend route of flight in a previously issued
clearance by one of the following:

1. State which portion of the route is being
amended and then state the amendment.
PHRASEOLOGY: CHANGE (portion of route) TO READ (new portion of
route).

2. State the amendment to the route and then
state that the rest of the route is unchanged.
PHRASEOLOGY- (Amendment to route), REST OF ROUTE UNCHANGED.

---------------
3. Issue a clearance “direct” to a point on the previously issued route.
PHRASEOLOGY: CLEARED DIRECT (fix).

---------------
#3 is more for APP/CTR controllers rather than DEL/GND/TWR

4. Issue the entire route by stating the amendment.
