This is a very long article (http://articles.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m4035/is_1_47/ai_87918555) but it is a facinating read. It is a study about how non-novel interruptions can cause a stable system (like an air traffic controller) to decend into chaos.
Basically, how too many interruptions or deviations from the norm can put you down the tubes. Or how errors and/or miscommunication can aggrivate the situation (as Keith and I found out last night). Very interesting to me, so if you have a spare hour or so, I think it would be a good read. I can totally relate it to ATC and what I've done with the Xavius sim and on VATSIM.
